The UK Clinical Aptitude Test - or UKCAT - as it is commonly known, is used by the majority of UK medical schools.
It is used as part of the selection process for medical students and you cannot revise for it. The test assesses your aptitude to study medicine looking at your professional attitude, behaviour and mental ability. Important note: The UKCAT does not have any science content, and is not assessing your academic capability. The cost of UKCAT is between £60 and £75 for those living in the European Union - and there are bursaries available which you should not hesitate to take advantage of. The cost of the test should not be perceived as a barrier to studying medicine.
Key dates to take note of: UKCAT registration
opens: 1 May 2008 For full information on UKCAT and registration and test details - see the official website: www.ukcat.ac.uk Check out the following links that have examples of practice questions: http://www.profilingforsuccess.com/kogan-page/
Beware: There are a number of courses out there offering help with the UKCAT and mock tests - please check these out carefully and whether or not you really need to take these, before parting with (usually) large sums of cash.
